Domain Name
Predominance
We own over a dozen domain names, each of which mirrors the
content on Snowbird.Net. Three examples are below.
www.Snowbird.Net, www.Snow-Bird.net,
,
www.canadiansnowbird.com,
By having multiple domains, we greatly increase our internet
presence...which increases the number of visitors.
We also maintain 'sister sites' such as www.retirement-health.com
which also serve as satellites feeding visitors into Snowbird.Net.
Search Engine Predominance
After domain names, the most vital part of website marketing, is search
engine positioning. Close to 80% of sites are found by conducting searches on
one of 10 major search engines. The ones that predominate are Alta Vista,
Microsoft, AOL Search, Snap.com, Northern Light, info seek, Lycos and Yahoo.
Placing in the top ten positions for specific searches is highly coveted
and requires an active strategy (simply submitting ones site for review does
not work, neither do the old tricks like stuffing keywords on a page)
Our strategy is to attempt to gain keyword prominence when the word
'snowbird' is used in conjunction with any of our principal areas. e.g.
'snowbird' + 'insurance'
By continuously refining our web design and submission strategy, we now
rank consistently in top 10 search engine positions, with over 70 specifically
defined keywords, and several hundred 'accidentals'.
Cross Linking and Cross Promotion Partnerships
We cross link with major commercial senior websites across North America as
well as linking with community based, non-commercial websites. See
Our Web ring
By exchanging equal values of advertising, we are also cross promoting with
mainstream (non internet) publications. See Media Partners
The net effect is that after 12 months of operation we have become recognized
as the leader in online communication to SnowBirds. (source:
